New Peace Pantry opens

Construction was completed on the new Peace Pantry building at 8100 South Industrial Drive in Cedar Hill in the late summer of 2016.
Volunteers moved all of the food, clothing and furnishings from the the former pantry on Sept. 9, 10 and 11 and the new pantry was up and ready for clients on Sept. 14.
Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make it happen.
The dedication of the new building was held Oct. 15 and almost 200 people came out to celebrate the grand opening. During the event, Pantry officials honored the volunteers who have died since the pantry was established. They laid the road for all those who work at the pantry today, said president of the board Linda Schroeder.
Also honored were all those companies and individuals who donated their time, expertise, labor and materials to the project.

A special debt of gratitude is due to the Jefferson Memorial Community Foundation which contributed a grant for $350,000 to help build the new pantry building.

The need for a new pantry building

Since moving into the former location in 1997, the number of families the Peace Pantry provided assistance for had tripled to approximately 150 families each week and the former building was pushed to its limit.
A new building now provides families with a safer indoor waiting area, allows space for a thrift store that provides added operating income and gives the pantry more room for donations of food, clothing, furniture and other household items to help more families in need. The new building also will allow room for additional services, such as free tax assistance through the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program.

Although the new building is finished and in service, the Peace Pantry still needs support to help us meet the needs of low income families in our neighborhoods.

Box 32, Cedar Hill, MO  63016 or bring in your gift in person to 8100 S. Industrial Drive in Cedar Hill. Donations of food and clothing are accepted Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
